This is advertisment for a performance by Harry Houdini. Houdini became one of the first successful escape artists. This show was him escaping from handcuffs, giving him the titled the “Handcuff King”. His performance became popular in the late 1890s, he eventually traveled around the Europe and United States performing his dazzling escapes. Before his performance he would famously go to police stations and escape from their handcuffs, as publicity.
