About
In 1917 the U.S. government began issuing life insurance policies to soldiers, as commercial life insurance policies did not cover the hazards of war. When the war ended, this life insurance continued, as this poster advertises. Showing three men in military dress holding up a life insurance agreement, the poster urges servicemen to “hold on to Uncle Sam’s insurance,” even after they return to civilian life.
