About
An example of the many ways in which iconic American images played a role in war propaganda, this poster depicts "Lady Liberty" calling for immediate financial help. Though obviously a reference to the Statue of Liberty, this Liberty is far more feminine, with rosy lips and cheeks, her slim figure draped in a white gown. Instead of a torch, she holds a telephone, a contemporary detail that places America's financial emergency directly in the present.
