About
This photographic print shows the breathtaking effects produced by the stereograph. Stereographs contain two almost identical photographs or photomechanical prints, paired to produce the impression of a 3D image through a stereoscope. The scene captured here is the night view of Luna Park in Coney Island, New York. It was shot from a higher ground and the decorative nightlights illuminate the whole park, connecting it from all different directions. If one looks carefully enough, the frame of the image is shifted slightly to the left on the second print. In this way, when looking at the image through stereoscope, two slightly different but almost identical images would create the 3D effect.
