About
Anna V. Hyatt was a well-known American sculptor with an enormously successful career, especially for a woman artist working in the early 20th century. She is best-known for her large-scale equestrian statues, many of which are still on view today. This photograph depicts her very well-dressed, standing by herself, staring determinedly into the camera. A crowd of people is behind her, appearing en masse as if for a parade, but they are blurred so Hyatt remains the focus.
