Lincoln stands in between Allan Pinkerton on the right and Maj. Gen. John A. McClernand on the left on the eastern front during the Civil War. This photograph was by Alexander Gardner a famous Civil War photographer, known for taking President Lincoln’s picture on seven different occasions. The last time Gardner photographed Lincoln was a few weeks before his assassination.
